The ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) system replaced the ICD-9-CM (9th Revision) on October 1, 2015.

With the transition to PDPM, PDGM, and the increasing weight of the cost category in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), it is more important than ever to use ICD-10-CM to the highest level of specificity.
