The January/February issue of AJOT is a special issue on health services research, a broad, multidisciplinary area of study that examines the use, cost, quality, accessibility, process, and outcomes of health care. The main goal of health services research is to identify the most effective ways to deliver high-quality care and maximize client outcomes.
This special issue of AJOT, guest edited by Brittany N. Hand, Chih-ying (Cynthia) Li, and Tracy Mroz, highlights health services research relevant to occupational therapy practice. This issue presents findings from empirical studies and systematic reviews and meta-analyses that can be used to inform occupational therapy practice or policymaking decisions.

If you are engaged in research, particularly clinical trials, consider submitting a manuscript to AJOT. The primary mission of AJOT is to publish peer-reviewed research examining the effectiveness and efficacy of occupational therapy practice so that occupational therapy professionals can make informed, evidence-based decisions about best practice. The journal aims to publish:
- Research documenting the reliability and validity of occupational therapy instruments;
- Studies demonstrating a relationship between occupational engagement and the facilitation of community participation and health; and
- Articles that provide a forum for scholars to debate professional issues that affect education, practice, and research.
With a two-year impact factor of 2.246 and a five-year impact factor of 3.776, AJOT is one of the most highly ranked journals in occupational therapy.

About AJOT
AJOT is a bimonthly journal, publishing six regular issues plus two or three special supplements each year. AJOT's Editor-in-Chief is Stacey Reynolds, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, Associate Professor, Department of Occupational Therapy, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. Her term began in July 2020.
Since January 2019, AJOT has been online only. In September 2021, AJOT received a brand-new design and improved search tools, making it even easier to stay current on clinical findings and find essential research to help you in your practice. We made the new site more accessible and added easy-to-find collections on key topics, too—making your research faster and easier.
Along with some of the highest quality occupational therapy research in the field today, AJOT is the repository for certain archival content of AOTA, including Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lectures and AOTA Official Documents.
AOTA members and AJOT subscribers have online access to all issues, supplements, full-text articles, and archives back to 1980. Nonmembers may view abstracts online but must purchase current full-text content.
