Elected and appointed positions
AOTA uses elections or appointments when a volunteer committee is needed or in cases of governance business. All elected or appointed positions are managed through AOTA's Volunteer Leadership Development Committee (VLDC). OTs and OTAs are encouraged to apply for leadership positions.
How do I volunteer?
AOTA offers many opportunities for you to become active in your professional community. Your investment of time and energy adds value to our mission and serves to strengthen the profession. We are hard at work to implement an improved system for recruiting members to volunteer. Until then, please look for announcements in OT Practice magazine, AOTA e-newsletters, this website, and social media communications.
Open elections and appointments
There are volunteer positions open each year. For news about available positions, check out the call for nominations (typically in the fall) and the call for appointments (typically in the spring). Terms for all positions run on the fiscal calendar, July 1 to June 30. The election process is already underway for the 2022 cycle.
Elected and appointed volunteer leadership opportunities
There are a number of committees that are composed of elected or appointed positions. Learn about AOTA’s volunteer groups.
VLDC members
The VLDC not only manages elections and appointments for AOTA's committees, they are an elected and appointed group themselves. If you're interested in an elected or appointed role, reach out one of the VLDC volunteers to talk about their experience!
