The AOTPAC Student Challenge
Interested? Here are some resources to help you succeed!
- Meet with your local SOTA and show the AOTPAC Student Challenge PowerPoint presentation.
Gain support from the group.
- Contact your AOTPAC Board member.
Contact your AOTPAC Board member for any general questions you may have. Better yet, contact the AOTPAC Board member for your state and ask them if they'd be available to speak (virtually) at your next group meeting about why AOTPAC needs your contributions, and why contributions cannot be solicited in the classroom environment (during official classes).
- Brainstorm fundraising ideas with your local SOTA group.
Share the AOTPAC Student Challenge Event Ideas handouts (in-person or virtually) with your SOTA group. Have a vote at your meeting on what fundraising ideas would be most effective. You can also contact and identify one or more ASD Representatives from your local SOTA that have already participated in an AOTPAC Student Challenge, and ask them to talk about what worked for them. Also refer to the Fundraising section of the SOTA Handbook.
- Promote and host an AOTPAC Student Challenge at your school. Participation in the AOTPAC Student Challenge supports AOTPAC’s political and legislative goals, for the field of occupational therapy and the future of our profession—including access for people who need OT services. Your AOTPAC Board member is available to assist you with planning and promoting your fundraiser.
- Publicize the outcome of your event in various venues! Share the outcome with other ASD groups and your AOTPAC Board member; even include a short story with a photo or a video about the fundraiser. Your successes—no matter how big or small—are important for the OT community to know about and may be posted on the AOTPAC webpage. You can also post a recap or video to the Student Forum on CommunOT to keep other students informed and encourage participation.
- Send your contributions to AOTPAC! Print and complete the “AOTPAC Student Challenge Contribution Form” and attach a check made payable to “AOTPAC.” It is important to use this form so funds are deposited correctly. Mail the completed form and check to:
